The first changes made by the Fair Work Act came into effect on 1st July 2009.

The new Act introduces significant changes to minimum standards, the rules around bargaining and information disclosure, union rights of entry and industrial action, small business thresholds, unfair dismissal and to round the changes out, the Act creates a new regulator with broadened powers.
